Los Angeles Sleep Apnea Dentist

Dr.Greenburg’s Oral Sleep Appliance

Dental Sleep Appliances have been around for years in for sleep apnea treatment and snoring treatment in LA. But the oral appliance or OA by Dr.Greenburg provides a brand new way for the dental community to treat apnea and snoring, which affects over 100 million Americans in combination. Developed by him, a biomedical engineer and sleep apnea dentist, he has successfully tested his creations at his 5 Sleep No More clinics across Southern California. The distinguishing factor that makes his OA better than other sleep apnea and snoring devices on the market is that it combines two cures: the Mandibular Advancement (moving the jaw forward) and disallowing movement of the tongue. When combined, these arrangements prevent the tongue from slipping back and blocking the airflow, which is the primary cause of snoring. Greenburg has conducted several clinical pre- and post-sleep studies that prove noteworthy development in the quality of patients' sleep and their ability to feel better after the use of his Oral Appliance.

Patients diagnosed with OSA, have been previously treated with a continuous positive airway pressure or CPAP machine or invasive surgery. Although the CPAP is moderately effective, many take a disliking to it because the CPAP mask is massive and forces patients to sleep on their back. But now, Oral appliances made by Dr.Greenburg have become the new Gold standard in the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea in LA and beyond.

A consumer version of his creation is obtainable to greatly reduce snoring, whereas a more robust and rigid version has been made available to dentists to prescribe for sleep apnea and as non-CPAP treatments. The professional version of the appliance has a broad elastic band and plenty of modification settings to allow advancement of the jaw. The consumer version as he puts it, is for snoring only and has a slim band that can’t be adjusted.

Bear in mind that snoring can be an excellent indicator of sleep apnea, which has been linked to strokes and heart diseases. As per studies published recently in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, snoring and ‘Sleep disordered breathing is associated with increased cancer mortality.’ And with the data provided by a 22-year-long ‘Sleep Apnea and Cancer Mortality’ study conducted by the University of Wisconsin, people with severe sleep apnea died of cancer at 5 times the rate than those who didn’t have the condition. Even patients with moderate sleep apnea were found to die of cancer at twice the rate when compared to people who didn’t have the same. So don’t wait. Come over for a consultation at Sleep No More and you’ll be sure to live a better, suffering-free life henceforth.
